GO GET EM - MHRA

Source

Counterfeit and unlicensed treatments for depression and erectile dysfunction have been seized in London and Yorkshire, UK during raids by the MHRA.

The raids targeted six locations in London and two in Yorkshire. From these locations the UK Medicines and Health products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) seized painkillers, sedatives and anabolic steroids, as well as treatments for depression and erectile dysfunction.

Packaging, computers and money were also seized. The raids led to the arrest of six people believed to be linked to a gang in Asia.

Pfizer, Eli Lilly and Sanofi-Aventis have been sent information relating to the raids. Laboratory testing of the products will now take place to assess their authenticity.

No doubt the crack team at the MHRA received numerous pats on the back from Pfizer, Eli Lilly and Sanofi-Aventis.

Ironically, I've just come off the phone with a reader of this blog who is suicidal after stopping his medication - one that was licensed by the MHRA and one that is not counterfeit.

Any team at the MHRA willing to talk him down from the ledge?

Ah, of course, we don't have any withdrawal clinics here in the UK because both pharma and the MHRA are in agreement that these drugs are safe and effective in adults.

Poor guy - 15 years on Seroxat - and now feelings of suicide and symptoms that mimic depression.

Carry on busting the counterfeiters - don't worry about the poor patients who are suffering as a result of your incompetence to regulate drugs properly.

I'll leave you to be covered in garlands by Pfizer, Eli Lilly and Sanofi-Aventis.

Pathetic!
